Wallace Community College Selma Joins Statewide Effort in "Don't Drop It on Alabama Spring Cleanup" Event

Selma, AL - April 16, 2024 - Wallace Community College Selma (WCCS) proudly participated in the annual "Don't Drop It on Alabama Spring Cleanup" event on Monday, April 15. From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., faculty, staff, and students gathered to clean up the campus and promote environmental stewardship.

The event started with sign-in at 9:00 a.m. in front of the WCCS Library-Gymnasium, where eager participants received supplies and instructions before embarking on their cleanup efforts. In addition to contributing to the beautification of the campus, participating students were treated to brunch to fuel their efforts.

Organized in collaboration with the Alabama Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils, Inc. (Alabama RC&D Councils), the "Don't Drop It on Alabama Spring Cleanup" event was held simultaneously at all 24 Alabama Community College System colleges. This statewide initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of keeping Alabama clean and preserving its natural beauty.

Dr. James M. Mitchell, President of Wallace Community College Selma, expressed his appreciation for the collective effort of the WCCS community in making the event a success. He stated, "The 'Don't Drop It on Alabama Spring Cleanup' event exemplifies our commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement. By coming together to beautify our campus, we demonstrate our dedication to creating a clean and sustainable environment for current and future generations."

The event served as a reminder of the importance of environmental stewardship and the role of individuals and communities in preserving Alabama's natural resources.
